Sean MacGuire

I was born in Edinburgh and live between there and the Cairngorms.

Growing up I knew I was different from everyone else. I found it hard to connect with other people. I was bored at high school.  A good friend of mine showed me how great it feels to be wild and free, and I knew I wanted this freedom to be part of my life. After leaving school, I decided I wanted to live my life like an adventurer the kind you would find in books and video games.

When I got to Skye I was nervous because it was my first time away from home for a very long time and I found it hard to connect to my classmates.

Our lecturers and everyone who worked with us were very friendly and helped us learn and have fun.

My favourite part of it was when we got to do water activities like coasteering, kayaking, gorge walking, canoeing. After Christmas, I learned how to get along with my classmates and it was one of my best decisions I made.

During free time it was either chores in the house or studying for tests or outdoor things for assessments. I had good support with organising my work and help me with things I couldn't understand. And sometimes just checking in on me to see how I'm feeling with being in a whole new place.

Thanks to all of them I feel really excited to be able to work in the outdoors and learn more about it.

Soon I want my dream to travel around different parts of the world where I can work, live, learn and explore, eventually making my dream into a reality and live by my freedom, discipline and creativity.

 This is exhilarating get excited!
