David Skene

Geography lecturer at UHI North West and Hebrides

With a background in Economics and tourism, David now focuses on rural development, small-scale agriculture, and post-growth economic thinking.

Based on the Isle of Lewis, he crofts on a community-owned estate, keeping sheep, growing fruit and veg, and planting productive trees.

He leads the BA Geography and BA Sustainable Development programmes and is active in his community as a retained firefighter, charity finance director, and local forum chair.
