Background
Netty is a kiltmaker and designer based in Ness on The Isle of Lewis. She established her label, ‘Diggory Brown’, in 2008 and since then has completed work for leading fashion designers and tailoring houses.
She started working at UHI to help establish a Fashion department in 2018. Since then she has continued to also work on a self-employed basis on collaborative projects in Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Mexico. She is currently working as part of a team from Applied Arts Scotland on CULTURALITY, an EU Horizons research project exploring the relationship between creative industries in rural areas and sustainable tourism.
