Aaron Roberts named Game and Wildlife Learner of the Year at ALBAS

UHI North, West and Hebrides student Aaron Roberts has been named Game and Wildlife Learner of the Year at the annual Awards for Land-based and Aquaculture Skills (ALBAS), organised by Lantra Scotland.

The awards ceremony took place at Crieff Hydro Hotel earlier this month, where winners were selected by an independent panel of industry experts.

Aaron studied NC Gamekeeping with UHI North, West and Hebrides while working as a Trainee Stalker at Laudale Estate. He said he was delighted to receive the award and thanked his tutors, particularly David Olds as well as Laudale Estate for their support throughout his studies. UHI North, West and Hebrides, lecturer David, praised Aaron’s achievement, saying:

"Aaron's dedication to both the theory and practical learning he undertook whilst completing his NC Gamekeeping at UHI North, West and Hebrides was excellent throughout, and he added real value to the lectures and to his class group. Whether taking on new skills, supporting others, or embracing challenges with maturity beyond their years, Aaron consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence and a deep respect for the industry that he represents."

The rural studies department at UHI North, West and Hebrides supports learners at every stage, from senior phase programmes through to NC Gamekeeping and progressing to HNC/D Wildlife and Conservation Management.
