Humanities and Social Sciences
Our Humanities and Social sciences honours degrees give students the opportunity to develop a wide range of personal skills that will always be in demand by employers. These will vary depending on your chosen course, but many of the skills you pick up will be transferable in the workplace. Skills include problem-solving; being objective; conducting research and evaluating sources; debating; proposing ideas and theories; and leading and participating in discussions.
Our courses are 'networked', which means that you have access to highly qualified specialist staff throughout the Highland and Islands through video conference and the online Virtual Learning Environment. The benefit of this kind of teaching is great; students will 'join' your class from across the region, bringing a wealth and variety of knowledge to the classroom. Courses have a large amount of self-directed study and the flexibility to fit around existing work and family commitments, as well as allowing you to move between full-time and part-time study according to your circumstances.
