Welcome Activities
Whether you’re returning to campus or starting your studies with us for the first time, there are lots of opportunities to settle in, meet other students and get involved in student life.
From games and competitions to welcome fayres, breakfast clubs and online activities, there’s plenty happening during the first few weeks of term.

Fort William campus
- Games & prizes: Games and activities will be available in the foyer.
- Time Out Table: Located in the café, with more games and calming activities.
- Culture Map: Students can contribute to our Culture Map in the Mezze.
- HISA Welcome Fayre: 8 September, 12–3pm – a great opportunity for students to meet people, find out what’s available and get involved in campus life.
- Halls Welcome: Students moving into halls over the weekend are invited to a welcome afternoon on Monday 31 August at 3.30pm on campus, with useful information, pizza, and prizes.
Thurso campus
- Games & prizes: Games and activities will be available in the ETEC foyer.
- Trivia Quiz: 8 September 12.30pm – located in the Library, with prizes to win.
- Culture Map: Students can contribute to our Culture Map in the student breakout by reception.
- HISA Welcome Fayre: 9 September, 12–3pm – a great opportunity for students to meet people, find out what’s available and get involved in campus life.


Stornoway campus
- Mini Golf: Located on our campus garden with a £15 Amazon Voucher to the tournament winner.
- Games, music and activities: Available in the foyer and HISA base.
- Culture Map: Students can contribute to our Culture Map.
- HISA Welcome Fayre: 15 September, 12–3pm – a great opportunity for students to meet people, find out what’s available and get involved in campus life.

- Photo Competition: Available on Brightspace from Monday 31 August, with three chances to win a prize.
- Online Culture Map: Share where you’re from and see where other students are joining us from.
