UHI North, West and Hebrides to celebrate student achievements at Stornoway graduation ceremony
UHI North, West and Hebrides will celebrate the achievements of its students at a graduation ceremony in Stornoway on Friday 30 October 2026.
More than 860 students will graduate from across UHI North, West and Hebrides' campuses this autumn, with more than 450 in further education and more than 410 in higher education.
The ceremony in Stornoway will be followed by graduations in Thurso on Friday 6 November and in Fort William on Friday 27 November.
The graduating students reflect the breadth of learning opportunities available through the college, with subjects ranging from literature, Scottish history and Gaelic to mechanical engineering, psychology, business management and childhood practice.
Lydia Rohmer, Principal and Chief Executive of UHI North, West and Hebrides, said:
“Graduation is always the highlight of the year, and we are very much looking forward to celebrating the hard work, determination and achievements of our students in Stornoway this Friday. It will be a real pleasure to welcome our graduates, along with their families and friends, to mark this important milestone. We are also delighted to welcome Marion Sinclair as our guest speaker, and I know her experience across publishing, education and the creative industries will make her words particularly meaningful for those attending.”
Marion, originally from the Isle of Barra, is a publishing professional with more than 35 years of award-winning experience in commissioning books, particularly fiction, and in publishing higher education, where she worked as a course leader. She subsequently led Publishing Scotland, the development body and trade association for Scotland’s book publishing industry. A fluent Gaelic speaker, Marion also sits on the board of MG ALBA and serves on other committees and boards across the creative industries.
This year’s mace bearer will be Fiona Hamilton, Head of Student Experience at UHI North, West and Hebrides based at Stornoway campus.
The graduation ceremony at Martin’s Memorial Church will be followed by a celebratory reception at the college’s Stornoway campus.
