What is special about this course?

Looking to enhance your computing and digital media skills?  

This brand-new course has been designed with a particular focus on working to professional project briefs. It's been developed to prepare you for employment or further study at degree level.  

You'll work collaboratively with your classmates and lecturers on a number of creative projects, such as website development, app creation, video production and computer game design. As you work on these projects, you will build a portfolio to showcase your own work. You'll get hands-on experience working with industry relevant software to further develop your content creation skills.

  • Three National 5 qualifications, or equivalent, preferably including a computing, administration or IT subject, or NC Computing with Digital Media SCQF Level 5
  • We also welcome applications from individuals with relevant industry experience. You may be invited for an interview.
  • Learners will apply via the college website and will be selected on meeting entry requirements and personal statement.

How will I study my course?

  • Full Time
  • Online

You normally need to commit to 18 hours per week (2-3 days) of learning time consisting of timetabled learning and self-directed study.
You will learn online through timetabled classes delivered by a lecturer in a virtual classroom. You'll use our virtual learning environment to access resources, complete assessments, and chat to your lecturer and classmates. You will also complete regular and flexible personal study which most students choose to do from home. 
You will be assessed by means of a combination of practical tasks and open and closed book assessments throughout the year. You may have to attend a college centre or other exam centre for some of these – we can discuss this with you on application.

What can I do on completion of my course?

You could continue study in areas such as interactive media, web development, software development, 3D computer animation, computing and technical support.
