What is special about this course?
The NC Beauty Therapy Skills SCQF Level 5 course is designed to provide learners with a broad introduction to the beauty industry within a realistic salon environment. Students will gain hands-on experience in a range of practical treatments, including facials, hand and foot care, back, neck and shoulder massage, waxing, make-up, eye treatments and nail services, using industry-standard techniques and equipment.
The course has been developed in line with current National Occupational Standards (NOS) and informed by industry consultation to ensure learners develop the practical, professional and customer care skills employers are looking for. Alongside practical treatments, learners will study anatomy and physiology, health and safety, sustainability and professional working practices, while building confidence, communication and employability skills.
This course is ideal for school leavers, adult returners, or anyone wishing to begin a career in the beauty industry. It also provides excellent progression opportunities into further study, apprenticeships and employment within the beauty and wellbeing sector.
Minimum entry requirements for NC5 Beauty Therapy Skills are:
- NPA Beauty Skills, NPA Cosmetology, or a minimum of two National Courses at SCQF Level 4 or 5 (a science subject is desirable), or other equivalent qualifications or relevant industry experience
- Applicants must provide a strong personal statement as part of their application

On campus – You will learn on campus through timetabled classes with your lecturer. Your learning could take place in a workshop, studio, classroom, specialist facility or an outdoor location. You will use our virtual learning environment to access resources and complete assessments.
