With 19 campuses and centres across the North and West Highlands, Skye, and Outer Hebrides, we cover a geographic area larger than Wales, comprising 40% of Scotland’s coastline. Our campuses and centres are located within historic towns and villages, set amongst the shorelines, mountains, and moors, with local staff working across our region to support our students and communities.   

Position: We are seeking a Lecturer – Engineering (Maternity Cover), 

to be based at our Thurso campus. 

Responsibilities: The post holders will be responsible The post holders will be responsible to plan and deliver effective learning, teaching, assessment and student support, which results in a high-quality student experience and engaged and successful learners.  This is a key role, which involves working as part of a wider team to design and deliver a holistic approach to support for learning. 

Qualifications, Experience and Skills: We are seeking candidates who hold a qualification at SCQF Level 7–12, normally at a level above that being delivered, in a subject area relevant to the course. Applicants should possess a recognised teaching qualification, preferably a Teaching Qualification in Further Education (TQFE), PGDE, or an equivalent award. A Master’s in Education, or evidence of working towards this qualification, is desirable. Consideration will also be given to candidates who hold a PDA Teaching Practice in Scotland’s Colleges or another relevant professional teaching qualification. 

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate strong subject expertise, a commitment to high-quality learning and teaching, and engagement in ongoing professional development within the Scottish further education sector. 

A level of Gaelic ability would be advantageous to your application.
