Free tickets and work experience opportunities for students at HebCelt 2024

The college is looking for students with an interest in music, social media, and journalism to become ambassadors for the three-day music event, which takes place in Stornoway from the 17th to 20th July.

In return for engaging social media, photography and video which showcases the festival and its location, the rich culture of music on the islands, and the talented music alumni performing, students will be paid £12 an hour, receive an Arena Access pass, and have the opportunity to interview this year’s top performers.

UHI North, West and Hebrides has a rich history of delivering music in the Outer Hebrides and North and West Highlands. Its award-winning BA (Hons) Applied Music has supported several high-profile musicians in their careers, including Chloe Steele, Alan McGeoch, Ailis Sutherland, Barry Nisbet, Eabhal, Kirstie McLanaghan, Liam Ross, Margaret Robertson, Kirstie McLanaghan and Peter Wood.

Hannah Ritchie-Muir, Vice Principal (Academic) said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with the HebCelt Festival again for this years festival. The college has been in partnership with the festival for over 5 years. We work to support the festival and provide unique experiences for our students and alumni. The new Digital Ambassador programme is a fantastic opportunity for our students to get paid, attend an amazing festival for free, and enhance their careers through an invaluable work experience opportunity. We have a great relationship with our music alumni and we’re proud to be able to support them through this partnership.”

The HebCelt Festival takes place in the picturesque grounds of Lews Castle, with stars performing including Sharon Shannon, Sian, Skipinnish, James, Kinnaris Quintet, Elles Bailey, Del Amitri, Elephant Sessions, Baskery, Brownbear and The Lumber Jills.
