We are joining this year’s #AJobForEverybody campaign in September 2023

The campaign aims to celebrate diversity and inclusion in the workplace by sharing stories and resources, along with encouraging businesses, their employees, and/or individuals to share personal experiences. The campaign coincides with National Inclusion Week, which runs from 25th-29th September. There are many benefits to being part of an inclusive workspace:

  • Becoming an employer of choice
  • Innovation and ideas from a diverse range of perspectives
  • Filling skills gaps
  • Ability to support a more diverse clientele
  • Community recognition and increased custom (knowledge of your fair work and inclusivity practices may make people more likely to use your services)

At UHI North, West and Hebrides we are committed to not just supporting all our students through their studies but also help them path a way into their futures. We know that many students are still concerned about being stigmatised when searching or applying for jobs. If you are feeling concerned about entering the workplace, we have compiled some handy tips and advice here: Looking for Work

Over the course of our students lives they will make frequent career decisions. Their career journey, alongside many other areas of your life, will be subject to constant change and the influences of unplanned events and unexpected opportunities. We encourage our students to see career decisions not as ‘problems to be solved’, but as amazing opportunities to be curious, look creatively at possibilities and consider what opportunities exist across the Highlands and Islands and beyond.

Taking action to navigate your career is important because Action Changes Things.
