Gaelic Consultation
UHI North, West and Hebrides Gaelic Language Plan Consultation
UHI North, West and Hebrides have been working in collaboration with Bòrd na Gàidhlig to produce our first Gaelic Language Plan. This plan has been prepared within the framework of the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005.
We have worked closely with Bòrd na Gàidhlig to produce a set of Strategic Priorities for the development of the Plan to further grow the use of Gaelic and the learning of Gaelic.
The next stage of this work is a six-week consultation on the draft policy where members of the public can input into the work we are doing to enhance the profile and status of Gaelic within our college. The consultation will run for six weeks until Friday 31 May.
Key priorities include driving forward Gaelic learning, promoting and developing Gaelic as a community asset, supporting the development and delivery of short online and in-person language courses, enhancing Gaelic provision in health, early years and childcare professionals, and increasing enrolment on Gaelic medium teacher education.
We invite you to read the draft Gaelic Language plan below and fill in our survey. Your comments will be used in our internal review of responses, and in our subsequent discussions with Bòrd na Gàidhlig, but no identification of individuals will be made.
