On the 1st August 2023, UHI West Highland, UHI North Highland and UHI Outer Hebrides merged to form UHI North, West and Hebrides, a partner of the University of the Highlands and Islands. With 600 staff and 19 campuses we cover an area larger than Wales and encompass more than 40% of Scotland’s coast line.  

 

We are seeking a Lecturer – General Construction Operations to be based at our Fort William college centre to deliver our CECA Scotland Academy (NPA Construction Operations) SCQF Level 5 programme. Delivery will be on site and in the classroom.   

 

The CECA Scotland Academy provides a training to employment programme developing a future pipeline of talent to the Civil Engineering Industry in Scotland. Created due to the increasing need to close the skills gap in the industry by CECA, the programme has been collaboratively developed by industry leaders and employers and is delivered in partnership with colleges across Scotland. The programme provides participants with an NPA qualification in civil engineering and a direct route into the industry as a civil engineering operative. Championing inclusivity and diversity in the sector, the programme will be delivered to students of all ages and all backgrounds. With the CECA Scotland Academy (NPA Construction Operations) programme, no two days are the same. The programme focuses on practical, hands-on learning. 

 

In addition to a strong contracting background, the post holder will have excellent written and verbal communications, with a flexible approach and the ability to motivate and support learners of all ages. 

   

Applicants must have suitable knowledge and experience, as well as relevant qualifications to SCQF Level 10 or industry equivalent and relevant teaching or mentoring experience.

 

Good planning, organisational skills, initiative and self-motivation are essential.
