Personal Finance Award SCQF 5 (Online Self-directed)
What is special about this course?
Our online Personal Finance Award has been designed to help you develop effective finance and budgeting skills that will help you take control of your money, stay out of debt and begin to generate savings. The course will develop your knowledge and skills of how to cope confidently and effectively with the types of financial matters individuals are likely to encounter; this course will allow you to develop transferrable, life-long skills in relation to financial decision making and managing of your own personal finances.
This course is available to study online (with a tutor being allocated to you for support), using our virtual learning environment (VLE) called Brightspace. Learning materials will be provided through Brightspace. You will work through the learning materials and complete tasks as requested by your lecturer. During induction you will learn how to use the VLE, which is an integral part of the course delivery. Weekly engagement with the learning materials is mandatory; students should allow at least 2 hours per week for this.
Entry requirements
You will require to have at least 3 passes at National 4 level. You may be asked to participate in a short interview.

- Credit cards
- Bank accounts
- Exchange rates
- Interest and inflation rates
To achieve this award, you must pass two end-of-unit e-assessment tests using SOLAR (SQA's e-assessment platform).
Equipment
Internet connection and a suitable device with headphones, microphone and camera (minimum spec) is required. Please email us if you have any concerns about connectivity or equipment.
